As part of the STEAM Fest 2024, a group of Elementary, Middle, and High School students represented our school in this event at Academia Británica Cuscatleca.
The STEAM fest allows the presentation of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) projects.
The attendance of our students at such events makes pillar 4 of the disciplinary approach of our pedagogical model: "Science with STEAM and MAKERSPACES Orientation" a reality. This approach consists of the scientific method + the 5 E's (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate) + Model-Based Inquiry = IBEM (Inquiry and Model-Based Experimentation).
The competencies of the graduate profile of our Semper Altius pedagogical model that is directly related to the 4th pillar are the search for truth, creativity and artistic sensitivity, innovation, design and problem-solving, critical and autonomous thinking, social responsibility, and interculturality.
Our students had two different participation in the event. Two teams participated by presenting their projects, and one team participated in a Technology Challenge, also known as a Hackathon. In this event, the students had to build a vehicle with functional wheels that integrated electronic parts and executed a program created on the spot to perform a task.
Our team won second place in the Hackathon, and one of the teams won second place in the presentations. Our winning project was called Chicken Bot, and its solution consisted of an automated irrigation system.

In the High School category, for the Technology Challenge, we had the participation of Ximena S., Nicole C., and Ana Lucía R.
These experiences are of great value to our students. They allow them to practice public speaking in English, develop communication skills, and demonstrate technological competencies using different media and tools to propose solutions to real problems.
